HISTORY ASPECTS:
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 was a late-war variant of the renowned Fw 190 series, and it played a significant role in the later stages of World War II. In 1945, the IV./JG 3 "Udet" squadron of the Luftwaffe operated the Fw 190D-9 from their base in Prenzlau, Germany. During this period, the Luftwaffe faced increasing challenges on the Eastern and Western Fronts as the Allies gained air superiority.
The Fw 190D-9, with its improved high-altitude performance and speed, became a formidable adversary for Allied aircraft. It featured a powerful Junkers Jumo 213 engine, providing enhanced capabilities at higher altitudes compared to earlier Fw 190 models. IV./JG 3 "Udet" utilized these aircraft in defensive actions against the relentless Allied bombing raids and ground attacks in the closing stages of the war.
This 1:72 scale model meticulously replicates the Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 as flown by IV./JG 3 "Udet" in 1945. Aviation enthusiasts can now own a piece of history, commemorating the aircraft that symbolizes the Luftwaffe's determined efforts to defend German skies during the waning months of World War II.
